Automatic or Manual Transmission Maintenance
The transmission is one of the more commonly neglected systems when it comes to vehicle care. As with any engine system that uses a fluid and filter, you should make sure to have the transmission fluid and filter changed on a regular basis. If you don’t, the transmission will fail prematurely and you will be looking at an expensive repair bill. The cost of periodically changing the transmission oil and filter is a lot less than you will have to pay if the transmission has to be repaired or replaced.
We can perform all the routine maintenance needed to keep your transmission running optimally, like pan gasket, filter and fluid changes. We can also complete transmission fluid flushes. We only use the type of transmission fluid and filter that works best with your vehicle make and model. We will also let you know if we find a problem with the transmission so you can have it repaired right away. Contact us for an appointment to have a transmission service performed on your vehicle.
Signs of a Transmission Problem
- Low transmission fluid – your vehicle’s transmission does not use up fluid, so if the level is low, there’s a leak in the system. Have it repaired right away.
- Red leaks or stains under your vehicle – This is a sure sign there is a problem with the automatic transmission or the power steering system. Either way, you should have it checked and repaired.
- Transmission fluid that is black in colour or smells burnt – Transmission fluid is red. If it smells like it’s burnt, looks cloudy, or is black in colour, have it replaced right away. This means the transmission is running too hot.
- Noises, vibrations and/or erratic shifting – These are not signs to be ignored. It could be something as simple as an adjustment. But, if you ignore it, a simple transmission problem will mostly turn into a major transmission repair.
